hang me up to dry

2025

Inspired by a hanging clothesline, hang me up to dry is a three-dimensional installation connecting feminine domestic life with bodily trauma. The hanging of clean clothes onto a clothes line is a traditional domestic task performed by women, hanging something clean to be dried as new. Using photographic transfer methods, I split my body up to be shown on fabrics as a piece of clothing itself. The pieces are all white delicates, representing purity and femininity. Using my body to be hung up to dry as a ritual for cleansing the self. Hang me up to dry is a play on traditional expectations of women, connected with the cleansing of the female body after experiencing physical trauma.
